Sri Lanka Cultural Holiday Package

Sri Lanka is an island of layered civilisations — where ancient rock fortresses tower over jungle canopies, golden cave temples glow with 2,000-year-old murals, sacred Buddhist relics draw millions of devotees, tea-covered hills roll into the cool British-colonial highlands, and wild elephants bathe in river shallows as the afternoon sun turns everything amber. Our Sri Lanka Cultural Holiday Package — 6 Days / 5 Nights — traces the island's most beautiful cultural corridor: from the UNESCO golden caves of Dambulla to the sky-fortress of Sigiriya, through Kandy's sacred temples and Kandyan drum ceremonies, up into the misty tea highlands of Nuwara Eliya, past the famous Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, and finally into the colonial-meets-modern bustle of Colombo. Six days. An entire civilisation's worth of stories.

About Sigiriya Rock Fortress — Lion Rock

Rising 200 metres vertically from the Sri Lankan jungle, Sigiriya is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the island's most visited attraction. Built in the 5th century CE by King Kasyapa as an impregnable sky palace, the fortress contains some of the world's most remarkable ancient engineering: geometric water gardens (among the oldest in the world), a sophisticated hydraulic system with gravity-fed swimming pools at the summit, the 21 surviving Sigiriya Frescoes (painted Apsaras in mineral pigments on a sheltered cliff face, estimated to have been one of 500 original figures), the Mirror Wall (polished white plaster inscribed with ancient visitor poetry from the 6th century onward), the iconic Lion Gate (two enormous granite lion paws — all that remains of a once-complete lion-head entrance), and the summit palace complex with throne room, audience hall, and cisterns. The 360-degree view from the top — jungle, lakes, and distant mountains — is one of Asia's most memorable panoramas.
