Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand — April 12, 2025: In a major development for devotees and adventure seekers, the much-awaited Inner Line Permits (ILP) for the sacred Adi Kailash Yatra will start being issued from April 30, 2025, marking the official opening of the travel season in the Vyas Valley of Uttarakhand.
The Uttarakhand administration has confirmed that all necessary arrangements have been made to facilitate the issuance of ILPs from the District Magistrate office in Pithoragarh and via designated online portals for registered tour operators. This move paves the way for yatris to begin their spiritual and scenic journey to Adi Kailash, Om Parvat, and the surrounding Himalayan pilgrimage spots.
Adding to the spiritual fervor, the Kapat (sacred door) of the ancient Shiv Temple at Parvati Sarovar, located near Jyolingkong at an altitude of over 4,700 meters, will ceremoniously open on May 2, 2025. The kapat opening, performed with traditional rituals, signals the beginning of the darshan season for pilgrims heading to the revered Adi Kailash, often referred to as Baba Kailash or Chhota Kailash.
The yatra is known for its serene landscapes, deep-rooted mythology, and proximity to the Indo-Tibetan border. With the ILPs now available, travelers can once again experience the divinity of Shiv Parvati’s abode nestled in the majestic Himalayas.
Local administration, ITBP, and Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam (KMVN) have tightened security and improved infrastructure to ensure a safe and enriching pilgrimage. Authorities have urged all travelers to complete necessary formalities and adhere to eco-tourism guidelines during their visit.
