Simikot, located in the remote Humla district of northwestern Nepal, is accessible through a combination of air and road travel due to its isolation. To reach Simikot, you must fly from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj, then take a small plane to Simikot. The village is nestled in the high Himalayas, serving as the gateway for treks to the sacred Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar in Tibet.

Simikot is famous for its significance as the starting point for pilgrims journeying to Mount Kailash, one of the holiest sites for Hindus, Buddhists, and Jains. It is also known for its breathtaking mountain landscapes and rich cultural heritage, offering a unique glimpse into traditional Tibetan-influenced lifestyles.

How to reach Simikot?

1. Fly to Nepalgunj

From Kathmandu: The most common route is to first take a domestic flight from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj, a town near the border with India. The flight takes about 1 hour.

Alternative Route: If you're coming from India, you can also reach Nepalgunj by road from Lucknow or other nearby Indian cities.
